Position Description Summary :

The Department of Biological Sciences at The George Washington University invites applicants for a position as a Teaching Assistant Professor of Biology.

This is a full-time, renewable, Specialized Service contract position with a teaching load of 3 undergraduate courses per semester (Fall and Spring).

Because this is a teaching position, there are no research expectations, but the candidate will contribute to the service mission of the University.

This position will begin as early as Fall 2025. Specific Duties and Responsibilities : The primary responsibilities of the candidate will involve the design, delivery, and supervision of undergraduate courses (lab and lecture) in Genetics and Introductory Biology.

The candidate will manage and coordinate lectures (and appropriate lab sections) while collaborating with our teaching faculty, laboratory managers, graduate teaching assistants, and undergraduate teaching assistants to ensure a high-quality educational experience that prepares undergraduate students for advanced coursework in biology.

The department is committed to evidence-based pedagogy and active learning. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with educational consultants and instructional technology specialists through the Instructional Core team () to receive professional development in evidence-based pedagogy, course (re-)design, active learning, assessments, etc.

Minimum Qualifications : Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline by date of appointment.

Applicants must have demonstrated experience in course design and a minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching Genetics at the university level including lecture and laboratory courses to both small and large enrollment classes.
