As a CNC Machinist at Rev-Tech, you will produce machined parts, set up, and operate a computer numerical control (CNC) machine;

maintain quality and safety standards; keep records; maintain equipment and supplies; and train new hires.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to OSHA safety procedures and regulations
  • Operates mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches;

calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; and proving part programs. Program parts using CAD / cam software

Sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers;

indicating vices; tramming heads

Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters;

interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)

  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations;
  • taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools;

adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes

  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
  • Identifies and implements CNC program process improvements by working collaboratively with the CNC Programmer and Production Manager
  • Identifies and implements process improvements in the shop by working collaboratively with the Production Manager
  • Trains coworkers who are less skilled to develop a more effective and productive team
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements :

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with CNC machines required
  • Must be able to set up jobs on your own
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Must be able to work to close tolerances
  • Must have good mathematical skills
  • Formal apprenticeship desired

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • The normal work environment is typical of a machine shop with many moving parts and is typically noisy
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • The incumbent is routinely required to stand (85% - 90% of the days is spent standing), walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 35-50 pounds;

over 50 pounds with assistance

  • Safety steel-toed shoes are required
  • While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, the risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions.
