What will I do in this role?
To support staff development :
Participate in recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation / recognition of student Resident Assistants.
To support student & community development :
- Promote a healthy transition to college life, development of community, student satisfaction, and student persistence within the upper-class residential halls and apartments through leading and creating developmental, educational, and social programs.
- Facilitate an Independent Living programming series that is aimed at addressing the transition to living off campus and on your own.
- Support and participate in divisional or campus-wide educational programming such as Alcohol Awareness Week and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
- Serve as a Student Conduct Hearing Officer. Educating students about College and Residential Life policies / procedures, standards of living within the community, and accountability for one's actions.
- Serve as a mandated reporter for all Title IX related items.
To support administration :
- Assist with all opening and closing procedures of the housing selection process.
- Manage and report building occupancy and related housing procedures.
- Assume after hours / weekend on duty crisis / conflict management responsibilities on an equal rotation basis. Handling a variety of matters including but not limited to drugs and alcohol, hospital visits, and mental health concerns.
What are we looking for?
Education and Experience
Associate or bachelor's degree required, master’s degree in student personnel or another related field preferred.
Knowledge and Skill Set
- Two years of previous experience in residential life preferred with experience with programming and development and supervision of staff.
- Computer skills (specifically of Microsoft Suite)
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Demonstrate professionalism and contributes to fostering a positive work / learning environment.
- Skillfully manage individual, group, and organizational interactions
- A Valid US Driver’s license with the ability to successfully pass our motor vehicle record check through insurance requirements.
