Divisions of Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant, Department of Pediatrics

Adjunct, Clinical X, HS Clinical, or In Residence Faculty Series

The UCSF School of Medicine and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals are seeking a highly qualified Medical Director of Pediatric Immunotherapy.

This critical leadership role of the Immunotherapy Program spans the Divisions of Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) in the Department of Pediatrics.

The appointment will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank within the Adjunct, Clinical X, HS Clinical, or In Residence faculty series, commensurate with the candidate's experience.

The successful candidate will join an esteemed academic medical center with an established fellowship training program. This position may include clinical responsibilities at both the San Francisco and Oakland campuses and will actively contribute to our mission of excellence in research, education, and patient care.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Program Leadership : Provide strategic direction and ongoing management of the Pediatric Immunotherapy Program, including preparing the program for FACT inspection as part of the broader BMT & Cellular Therapy Program.
  • Strategic Development : Collaborate with hospital leadership to develop a comprehensive growth strategy for the Immunotherapy Program.
  • Clinical Trials : Work closely with the Cancer Center's Living Therapeutics Initiative to advance investigator-initiated cellular therapy products to clinical trials.
  • Collaborative Appointment : The candidate may be primarily appointed to either the Division of Pediatric Oncology or Pediatric BMT, depending on their specific clinical and research interests.

Position Benefits :

  • Start-Up Funds : Additional start-up funds may be provided by the divisions as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Medical degree and license
  • Board eligibility or certification in Pediatrics
  • Board eligibility or certification in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology or Allergy and Immunology
  • Significant experience with CAR-T therapy
  • Experience in conducting clinical trials of cellular therapies

Preferred Qualifications :

  • A national reputation for innovative work in clinical trials of cellular therapies
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching
  • Prior leadership experience in an academic setting
  • A strong interest in a career in academic pediatrics
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage across diverse forums

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 . The minimum base salary range for this position is $127,000-$333,700.

This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
