Position Summary

Interim RN Director - SNF, 13 week contract, 40 hours per week. Responsible for providing leadership for Hi-Desert Medical Center.

This includes planning, organizing, staff development, performance management, quality fiscal and information management, regulatory compliance, building and enhancing relationships through customer relations, and appropriate professional involvement.

The Director will work closely with medical directors, medical department chairs, physicians, and other disciplines to develop services and ensure quality.

Access to all Patient Health Information.

Department Specific Duties :

  • Provides leadership of the skilled nursing facility staff related to care of the patients and associated administrative management.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development.
  • Understands the range of treatment needed as appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
  • Ensures standards of care, policies, and procedures are appropriate and current and that they have been reviewed with all staff members.
  • Develops short-term goals and objectives consistent with those of the organization. Assures departmental action plans meet departmental and organizational goals, problem solving effectively within the department and with other departments to achieve these goals.
  • Assures regulatory compliance with Title XXII, CMS, WIC, and OSHA
  • Assures regulatory compliance with The Joint Commission
  • Submits pay period productivity variance reports on time, identifying rationale for substantive variances.
  • Reviews statistical analysis information and corrects any errors monthly.
  • Identifies and implements cost savings through labor and supply utilization efficiencies.
  • Promotes sound staffing practice by optimizing the utilization of human resources. Anticipates and forecasts personnel needs of the department with regard to fluctuations in the projected workload.
  • Continually monitors the department’s activities and takes appropriate action to ensure efficient and effective operation.

Observes ongoing operations and analyzes performance to identify potential problems.

  • Assesses and implements staff development and cross-training as needed.
  • Supports all hospital programs to include, but not limited to : risk management, safety, infection control.
  • Productively reviews and effectively counsels staff in a timely manner.
  • Obtains feedback on a regular basis from other departments. Develops action plans to achieve improvement.
  • Maintains a good working rapport with all staff, and other departments, which require frequent interactions and coordination of efforts.
  • Establishes and maintains a routine mode of communication with staff, e.g., monthly staff meetings and written communications.
  • Communicates self and staff concerns and problems through proper written and verbal channels.
  • Communicates, cooperates, and performs related duties with other members of the hospital staff and administration in a courteous and efficient manner to actively contribute to overall hospital goals and objectives.
  • Assists with the development of and execution of a plan of staff involvement and growth through delegation of appropriate authorities.
  • Schedules the collection of data for these initiatives, and other ongoing reviews which serve as quality trending. Monitors and reviews the results with department staff on a regular basis.
  • Assures department compliance with TJC and other accrediting body standards as they are updates / revised.
  • Oversees all staff education, including oversight of staff development.
  • Leads the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) team, as well as participates in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
  • Functions as the Abuse Coordinator for the SNF.
  • Supports in developing AHRQ efforts to improve staff satisfaction and engagement.
  • Assists the clinical manager or charge nurse in the screening of patients for admission in compliance of the Facility Assessment.
  • Analyzes and develops action plan based on findings from the annual PEPPER (Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report).
  • Acts as the Infection Preventionist for the unit, responsible for conducting an antibiotic stewardship program and oversees infection control and prevention efforts.
  • Oversees the Minimum Data Set (MDS) process including ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and accuracy of the Care Area Assessments (CAAs) and care planning
  • Maintains access to the CMS QIES reporting system for national Quality measures reports including the CMS 5 Star Rating system
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance with the Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) requirements.
  • Maintains clinical competence in nursing practice through in-service education and participation in ongoing continuing education
  • Functions as Clinical RN with patient assignment as unit needs dictate
  • Functions as Charge RN on unit when needs dictate
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications : Required :

Required :

  • Current California RN license
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Three (3) years clinical experience
  • Current knowledge of the field, with evidence of ongoing continuing education
  • Progressive healthcare experience including at least two years supervisory experience
  • Basic computer competence (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and EMR software)
  • Superior verbal and written skills to communicate with people on all levels and able to maintain positive working relationships with patient, families, physicians and co-workers
  • Demonstrated competence as a leader / previous management experience required
  • Director of Staff Development Certification (DSD) required within 90 days of hire
  • Infection Preventionist Training and Certification (IP) required within 90 days of hire

Preferred :

  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Minimum Data Set 3.0 certification (RAC-CT)

Compensation

$110 / per hour.

Will pay for housing and transportation.

Will pay for 2 trips home per month, if needed.
