SENIOR GL ACCOUNTANT, CORPORATE ACCOUNTING

Job Description

This full-time position is hybrid based at Western Digital's offices in San Jose or Irvine, California

This position will be involved in the month end close process, including preparation and review of various financial reports, reconciliations and assist in ad hoc accounting projects as needed.

This role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with established internal controls. In this role, you will also assist with corporate initiatives relating to process improvements and support transformational projects to achieve best in class results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and account analysis for certain US general ledger accounts, such as corporate insurance, bonuses, deferred compensation, and intercompany billings
• Prepare account reconciliations on a monthly basis and ensure outstanding reconciling items are cleared on a timely basis
• Prepare monthly reporting schedules to management, providing commentary and noting fluctuation changes from prior periods
• Support cross-functional teams with journal entry posting and account analysis
• Support global account reconciliation process
• Design, implement, and maintain effective accounting processes, policies, and internal controls
• Identify automation opportunities while proactively engaging and collaborating with accounting transformation team members to build various scalable and transformational processes as well as to support new business initiatives
• Perform other related duties or ad hoc projects
• Assist in audit activities with internal and external auditors

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Active CPA license is preferred
• 3+ years of demonstrated success in accounting roles of increasing responsibility, preferably a mix of both public accounting and corporate accounting roles within a publicly traded company
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC Regulations and understanding of SOX 404(b) compliance
• Experience working with global financial systems, preferably Oracle and SAP
• Demonstrated experience with process and system automation
• Must have the ability to execute multiple tasks, while remaining detail oriented with high commitment to quality, and able to adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization
• Passion in implementing technology and executing process improvements

• An employee's pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education;

The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.

We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.

This range may be modified in the future.

You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.

Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
