Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans.
This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units.
Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is seeking a Registered Dietitian to assess the nutrition needs of our residents and utilize MDS 3.
0. The primary schedule is Monday-Friday 8 : 00 am - 4 : 30 pm. The Registered Dietitian will share the resident caseload with the Director of Clinical Nutrition.
The RD will be expected to perform the following duties :
Maintain the clinical nutrition care of all assigned residents
Evaluate and update diets to maintain quality and liberalization
Asses the nutritional needs of residents, approve nutritionally balanced menus, and plan as needed
Complete required assessments / documentation, monitoring, and charting on high-risk residents
Attend care plan meetings, and ensure conformance to nutritional and quality standards
Visit with residents regarding menus, food service, food preferences, and nutritional care, make recommendations to address nutrition issues
Provide nutritional consultation to residents as requested by the nursing department or physicians
Provide education to the residents, family members, and staff as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in nutritional sciences, dietetics, human nutrition or related field
Additional Considerations
Registered Dietitian Credentials strongly preferred
CDM or Dietary Tech certification preferred
Experience creating care plans preferred
Experience with MDS 3.0 or Point Click Care preferred
1 year clinical experience in an acute or long term care setting strongly preferred
