Middle School Special Education Teacher - Self-Contained Classroom
Location : Schaumburg, IL
Job Type : Full-Time
Work Schedule : 35 hours per week
Employment Dates : August 3, 2024 May 24, 2024
Daily Hours : Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
We are searching for a passionate and committed Special Education Teacher to lead a self-contained classroom for middle school students.
This position involves working closely with a small group of around 8 students who experience moderate to severe emotional and mental challenges such as anxiety, depression, and school-avoidant behaviors.
The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering tailored instruction and fostering an environment conducive to each student's unique needs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct comprehensive student evaluations and assessments.
- Create and maintain effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Deliver both direct and indirect services to students.
- Actively participate in meetings with parents, staff, and specialists to ensure collaborative support for students.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to advance students' academic and emotional growth.
Qualifications :
- Must hold a valid Professional Educator License (PEL).
- Prior experience supporting middle school students with emotional and behavioral issues is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills are a must.
Additional Requirements :
- Experience with Autism and students exhibiting behavioral challenges is essential.
- While a Special Education certification is preferred, we encourage all qualified candidates to apply.
- Proficiency in technology and virtual learning platforms is expected.
- Must be adaptable in modifying teaching strategies to suit virtual learning environments, if necessary.
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills are crucial.
