Description

GRS North America Actuarial & Analytics is seeking a talented Senior Actuarial Analyst to join the Segment Support and Rate Indications team within the Excess and Umbrella pricing team.

As part of segment support and indications team, you will provide pricing support for the respective Excess / Umbrella Underwriting teams in Majors and Specialty.

You will be a primary point of contact and trusted advisor of the Underwriting teams to support complex risk pricing and business strategy development.

This position will be focused on providing high quality analyses and effectively communicating key outcomes to support profit, growth, and operational objectives to our underwriting partners.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

If the selected candidate lives within 50 miles of a GRS office, then the expectation is for the selected candidate to come into the office two times / week.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform complex actuarial analyses to assist business decision making and strategy development, including the semi-annual profitability reviews and rate need indications.
  • Work with underwriting to provide account level support such as individual account rating, pricing model and tool support, profitability analyses, deep dives, etc.
  • Maintain and improve the current reporting infrastructure, working with stakeholders in Finance, Underwriting, and Product to ensure all business needs are met.
  • Provide direct guidance and support to underwriting teams with respect to pricing model infrastructure and price adequacy.
  • Develop tools that enhance pricing and influence underwriting strategy.
  • Provide clear and concise communication of technical actuarial work to stakeholders.
  • Partner across multiple functions including underwriting, finance, claims, systems and reserving.
  • Provide training to underwriters on pricing models, profitability metrics, and other actuarial topics as needed.
  • If applicable, positive progress towards pursuing and passing of required actuarial exams

Qualifications

  • Proven math and analytical skills, as normally acquired through the pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related field.
  • Commitment to achieving Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  • Passing grades on a minimum of 5 Casualty Actuarial Exams is required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience required.
  • Prior experience and solid knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
  • Solid oral and written and presentation communication skills and ability to interact effectively within and outside the organization.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, and apply independent judgment and well-developed critical thinking skills in execution of assignments and projects.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with minimal direction.
  • Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, ; Ability to build models of moderate complexity.
