We want journalists who understand which platform is best for each story and can execute coverage across all of them. We believe that every story has a science angle – their job is to find it and communicate it to our readers in the smartest way possible.The senior reporter must be the kind of reporter who owns their beat, who knows what’s going to happen before it happens, who has the best and brightest contacts in the field, and who has their own devoted readers who know you’re the person to follow. We’re open to anyone who can show us they are a trusted expert in their area of technology or engineering coverage, but we’re particularly excited to find reporters who cover topics including emerging technologies, corporate innovation and R&D, and automation and robotics. This is a great job for an experienced reporter who wants the freedom to build their brand, and the platform of one of the most trusted names in journalism to help them do it.This role can be in our New York, Washington DC, or London offices on a hybrid working model. Role Responsibilities : Break news and land exclusive stories Be an influencer and essential voice in your chosen area of coverage Use news and feature stories, video and audio, and social media to cover your beat Coordinate with news editors and junior reporters to make sure breaking news gets covered when you’re working to move a story forward Collaborate with colleagues on our Engagement and Multimedia teams Experience, Skills & Qualifications : Essential At least 5 years of experience as a full-time beat reporter A history of landing exclusives and breaking news An extensive network of sources and experts in your beat area An ability to show voice and personality in your writing and reporting A track record of telling stories in multiple formats, from long print features to short TikTok videos A smart and vibrant social media presence, and a track record of using social video to talk about news Desirable Experience as an on-stage moderator or speaker at in-person events Experience appearing on-camera or on-mic to talk about the news An undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM field, or a graduate degree in science journalism A knowledge of and enthusiasm for all kinds of scienceSpringer Nature US provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package which includes the benefit offerings listed below : Medical, Dental and Vision 401(k) with company match and contribution Hybrid office working policy, Summer Hours, and paid time off Flexible Spending and Commuter programs Multiple Life insurance options Disability coverage Tuition Assistance Voluntary benefits : Identity Theft Protection, Pet Insurance, and Legal Assistance Insurance Employee Assistance Program Family friendly benefits and a variety of employee discounts An array of Employee Social NetworksUS Annualized Base Salary : $105,000 - $120,000.
