Overview :

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Vice President of Sales to lead our global sales efforts in the competitive and evolving book publishing industry.

The SVP of Sales will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and maximizing profitability across all channels.

This position requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the publishing landscape, exceptional sales management skills, and a proven track record of successfully achieving sales targets.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve annual revenue targets and market share goals.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing international sales team, providing guidance, motivation, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster strong relationships with key accounts, distributors, retailers, and other industry stakeholders to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, editorial, and production teams to align sales efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and consumer behavior to identify new business opportunities and product strategies.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and contracts with major accounts and distributors to ensure profitable partnerships.
  • Implement effective sales forecasting, reporting, and budgeting processes to track performance metrics and optimize resource allocation.
  • Drive innovation in sales techniques, processes, and technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, emerging trends, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.

Requirements :

  • 10+ years of progressive sales experience in the book publishing industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth in a competitive market environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse sales team.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies.
  • Deep understanding of distribution channels, retail operations, and market dynamics within the publishing industry.
  • Proficiency in sales forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and other sales management tools.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies.

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
