About The Position
Job Title : Surgical Technologist Job Specialty : Surgical Technologist with Orthopedic Experience Job Duration : Options for 13 weeks or 20 weeks Shift : Rotating Schedule - 3x 12-hour shifts Guaranteed Hours : 32 hours per week Experience : Minimum 1 year;
Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and / or Licensed Surgical Technologist; Strong orthopedic experience required License : Licensed as a Surgical Technologist in the state required Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) required Must-Have : Working knowledge of the English language- Capability to care for patients across various age groups including Neonatal / Infant, Pediatrics, Adolescence, Young Adult / Adult, Middle-aged, and Geriatric- COVID Vaccination Required Job Description : Assist during surgical procedures ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field- Provide instrumentation as needed to the surgical team- Participate in unit activities to ensure high levels of quality patient care- Function under the direction of a Registered Nurse- Possess expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the implementation of tools and technologies- Function with working knowledge of AORN standards- Maintain and check all items for proper packaging and integrity- Ensure a safe operating room environment where equipment functions properly- Work towards competency with Tier 1 surgical cases- Maintain flexibility while contributing to the ongoing delivery of care within the scope of practice- Model effective, timely communication with the perioperative team with active participation in the Time Out Process, including Briefings and Debriefings- Assist the team in patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation- Model professional behavior, including maintaining knowledge of new technologies and procedures- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization- Perform other duties as assigned- Travelers may be required to float to local facilities
