The salary for this position starts at $58,892. We take into consideration an individuals background and experience in determining salary;

therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

1. Job Summary : The Director of Grants and Foundation Relations will function as an integral part of the Mission Advancement team at the YMCA of the North.

The incumbent assists in the planning and implementation of comprehensive institutional giving programs. The incumbent will secure grants from diverse sources, both private and public, that provide vital financial support for YMCA programs and services.

This person also provides leadership, project management, technical assistance, and coordination to collaborate with Program staff to develop successful, high quality grant proposals and grant reports.

2. Essential Functions : Provide leadership, project management, and coordination skills to collaborate with program, branch, and camp leaders, as well as other leadership staff, in developing successful, high quality grant proposals to secure competitive funds.

Proactively research and identify prospective governmental, foundation and corporate sources as it relates to specific needs.

Review funding guidelines and assess fit for YMCA programs. Coordinate the clearance, tracking, submissions, and reporting of grants.

Coordinate with the team to enter pertinent data into Apricot and Raisers Edge, and track grant implementation progress in collaboration with Operations, Accounting, and Finance Departments.

Provide training to program staff on prospect research, grant writing, and proposal development strategies for both short and long-term program needs.

3. Relationships : This position reports to the Sr. Director of External Partnerships who reports to the EVP of Mission Advancement and Development.

The incumbent interacts regularly with staff at all levels of the organization in many departments, including Mission Advancement, Youth & Family Services, Beacons / School Success, Childcare, Camp, Wellbeing, and YMCA Branches.

4. Qualifications : Required Minimum of five (5) years of experience in nonprofit grant writing to foundations, government with a proven track record of success.

Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience. Excellent persuasive writing, grammar, research, proofreading, and copyediting skills.

Excellent attention to detail in crafting grant narratives, budgets, program logic models, program evaluations, grant reports, and other related documents.

Ability to establish, maintain and grow an excellent rapport with YMCA staff to maximize collaboration and meet fundraising goals.

Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and donors.

Ability to plan, organize, and lead multiple projects, establish priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work and prioritize independently according to a demanding, fast-paced, deadline-driven schedule.

Must have excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong computer proficiency with excellent command of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.

Experience with Apricot and Raisers Edge a plus. Demonstrated personal and professional integrity, particularly with respect to maintaining ethical fundraising standards.

Excellent initiative taker and problem solving skills; desire to achieve result. Preferred Experience in health and human services grant writing.

Experience in state and federal grant writing highly preferred. Outcomes-based evaluation skills, evaluation reporting, and database management of outcomes for grants.

Effective communication and rapport building with Program Officers and other funder representatives in both private and public organizations.

Experience working with fundraising volunteers such as board members in developing and implementing institutional giving strategies.

5.Work Conditions : Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to travel locally. 6. Additional Notes : This job description represents the major functions of the position but is not intended to be all-inclusive.
