Underwriting Manager

Position Summary :

Responsible for leading a team of underwriting professionals, as well as overseeing the technical underwriting and account management of Middle Market Property and Casualty accounts targeting the Real Estate, Hospitality, Manufacturing, and Healthcare industries. This role includes collaborating with retail brokers to attract and retain these accounts.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

• Lead a team of underwriting professionals to effectively manage a portfolio of new and renewal business in accordance with our strategy and profitability goals.
• Mentor and lead team in negotiating pricing, terms and conditions commensurate with risk quality and loss experience.
• Build and sustain meaningful broker relationships for given territory with consistent visibility and accessibility to these trading partners.
• Augment training conducted by Chief Underwriting Office to ensure team members are knowledgeable and capable in their respective roles.
• Effectively manage referrals from team members within your grant of underwriting authority in a decisive and timely fashion.
• Source and hire new employees as needed and consistently performance manage team members to develop their skills for larger responsibilities.

Required Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience :

$150,200 - $233,185 / year

Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
