II. CollaborationThe Wound and Ostomy Registered Nurse establishes satisfactory interpersonal relationships with co-workers and colleagues, patients, families and significant others.
A. Initiates communication with patient and family to determine individual needs of patients, families and significant others.
B. Initiates communication with co-workers and colleagues in other disciplines and departments to share and exchange ideas and information about related activities and needs.
C. Provides detailed patient education to patient and family members during inpatient stay and at the time of discharge following prescribed teaching plans.
D. Responds effectively, both verbally and non-verbally, to communications from patients, families and significant others as well as subordinates, colleagues, department heads, supervisors, physicians, etc.
III. Ethics
The Wound and Ostomy registered nurse’s decisions and actions on behalf of patients are determined in an ethical manner.
A. Demonstrates sensitivity to the values of self and others.B. Involves patient / family in plan of care incorporating their cultural, spiritual and other belief systems.
Language Skills :
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written.
Skills :
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Demands :
- Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing and bending.
- May include some repetitive motions.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising patient care. "
Qualification1. Must meet requirements of Registered Nurse 2. Ability to prioritize and problem solve3. Ability to relate collaboratively with health care team
Position Requirements :
- Bachelor’s Degree required and Master’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Minimum of (2) years of experience preferred.
- NYS RN License; BCLS, Required in specialty areas.
- Wound and Ostomy Certification preferred. "
