User Interface Designer

UI Designers at FactSet are responsible for creating visually appealing and user-friendly digital interfaces. They focus on organizing information visually, using interaction design principles, and adhering to a holistic interface for the product suite.
Their work involves layout, typography, color, and other UI elements that form the platform-wide design system.
As part of the UX team you'll help create the next generation of applications our clients use every day. If you like to tackle complex problems, design user-friendly solutions, and work in a collaborative environment, you'll fit right in at FactSet.
Responsibilities :
- Develop fluency in the product's look and feel and user workflow to create responsive screen layouts.
- Optimize composition and information hierarchy, using consistent UI patterns and progressive disclosure.
- Learn UI fundamentals, including color, typography, iconography, motion, illustration, and photography.
- Establish hierarchy and craft usable interfaces for various screen sizes through composition, layout, and grid systems.
- Define visual style and interactive states for UI elements.
- Ensure user interactions emit expected responses.
- Propose solutions for different types of user inputs.
- Use visual and interaction design principles to make informed design decisions.
- Perform competitive analysis and share UI inspiration.
- Present solutions to design challenges via wireframes, mockups, or interactive prototypes.
- Validate and iterate design decisions based on user feedback.
- Collaborate with UX Design to ensure UI supports the overall experience.
- Work with UI Engineering to build and ship a UI kit.
- Support the dynamic, shareable design library and develop expert-level Figma skills.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in graphic design, digital arts, digital product design, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 1-3 years of professional design experience, ideally in software / product design.
- Portfolio showcasing visual aesthetic and understanding of foundational design elements.
- Proficiency with Figma.
- Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders, teams, and ideas.
- Ability to contribute to brainstorming sessions and work independently while seeking help when needed.
- Open to feedback and collaborative by nature.
- Effective communication of design decisions and ideas in small group settings.
- Passionate about UI and user-centered design.
The budgeted salary range for this position in the state of Connecticut and New York City is $85,000 - $110,000.
