Department of Justice Correctional Law Section - Deputy Attorney General III San Francisco

Be part of an engaging team in a fast-paced and collegial litigation section! Deputies in the Correctional Law Section are responsible for federal- and state-court litigation in both individual civil-rights cases, appellate matters, and complex class-action suits.

The cases address issues ranging from state torts to constitutional claims that concern various cutting-edge correctional issues, including religious practice, health care, equal protection, due process, use of force, transgender rights, and gang-management issues.

Deputies may be responsible for their own cases from the initial appearance in trial court through appeal, including jury trials and oral argument.

Represented clients include agencies and individuals from the largest correctional and parole system in the nation, including the Governor and other high-level officials.

Former Correctional Law attorneys include justices for the First District Court of Appeal, superior court judges, and other high-level public officials in California.
