RETTEW, an industry-leading engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Soil Scientist to join our dynamic GeoEnvironmental team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to apply their skills and knowledge in soil science while working on exciting projects.

Responsibilities :

• Lead soil investigations for stormwater infiltration.
• Prepare technical reports based on the results of soil investigations.
• Conduct field inspections on stormwater BMPs during the construction phase.
• Conduct percolation testing in support of on-lot sewage disposal projects.
• Conduct critical stage inspections at various project sites during the construction phase.
• Log geotechnical boreholes and prepare log profiles according to the United Soil Classification System (USCS).
• Assist in Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II subsurface investigations.
• Conduct environmental field investigations (soil and groundwater sampling) using prescribed methods.
• Data reduction and preparation of laboratory data.
• Consult senior project staff about regulations concerning project issues; assist in researching applicable regulations.
• Assist with various permit applications and specifications for project compliance needs.
• Assist with conducting geophysical surveys.

Requirements :

• Two to five years of experience in soil evaluations, environmental consulting, and geotechnical investigations are preferred.
• Degree in Soil Science and / or related Environmental Science Discipline with a strong emphasis on Soil Science.
• Desire to learn a wide variety of disciplines but focusing mainly on Soil Science and related technical areas.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER trained a plus.
• Periodic overnight travel, occasional project-specific extended travel.
• Word and Excel proficient; GIS and / or CAD experience a plus.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs.
