Job Summary and Qualifications
The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and / or swallowing impairments.
As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals.
The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues.
What You Will Do In This Role :
- You will coordinate the Speech Language Pathology care for the patient population who are acutely ill and have medical needs, which result in cognitive, swallowing, or language deficits.
- You will document evaluations (admission and discharge), modifications in treatment plan of care, and responses to speech language pathology interventions.
- You will determine the efficacy of therapeutic interventions, technologies and outcomes and the utilization of support personnel.
- You will work as a part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team with other therapists, nurses, physicians, allied health professionals to deliver a team approach to each patient.
What Qualifications You Will Need :
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology is required.
- Speech Language Pathologist License issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology is required.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by the American Speech and Hearing Association is required.
- 1 year of experience in a Speech Therapy Setting : Acute, Inpatient Rehab, Pediatrics, or Outpatient setting is preferred.
- Current BLS certification is required.
