Job Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring clinical excellence and providing oversight for assigned clinical personnel. The therapist will conduct evaluations, develop treatment plans, and offer direct patient care while also acting as a mentor for staff.
Additionally, they will assist in educational programs, program development, community education, and marketing. A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is strongly preferred for this role.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education : Bachelor's or graduate degree in occupational therapy from an accredited university-based program.
- Licenses / Certifications : Current License to practice Occupational Therapy. Current Certification in Basic Life Support.
Advanced Education or clinical certification preferred.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills : The position requires occasional / frequent lifting, fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and visual ability to monitor instruments, computers, and equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
- Conduct patient evaluations and interpret findings to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Provide advanced occupational therapy treatments and assess patients' progress towards treatment goals.
- Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and professional colleagues.
- Supervise assistants and support staff, taking an active role in ensuring safe and effective performance.
- Promote professional growth and development by participating in professional organizations and community service, advanced education, specialty certification, research projects, and advisory board membership.
- Identify the need for new departmental programs and assist with department planning.
- Actively participate and contribute to system and facility committees and task forces.
- Demonstrate leadership by assisting manager / director with daily operations and staffing.
- Develop and present education / in-services to colleagues, peers, and the community.
- Model Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing compassionate and personalized experiences to patients and colleagues.
