Worcester Rise for Health is looking for a passionate and experienced independently Licensed Mental Health provider to serve as a Director of our new behavioral health program for newly arriving refugees and immigrants.

The right candidate will be passionate about working with the population and developing an innovative program to serve new arrivals through a wide range of modalities.

Services include one-on-one therapy, group therapy, therapeutic group programs, and other non-traditional models catering to the needs of new arrivals in a trauma-informed way.

Build programs and teams that create a safe and nurturing environment, empowering clients to navigate life's challenges with resilience and strength by integrating clinical expertise with genuine empathy

Experience working with the population and understanding of the unique trauma and mental health / social needs of new arrivals is desired.

Trauma-informed care training and experience in crisis management are greatly preferred. The ideal applicant will have over 3 years of clinical experience treating mental health patients as well as manager and program development experience.

Experience working with the interpreter, and the ability to speak another language is highly desired.

Responsibilities :

  • Program Development :
  • Create and implement evidence-based behavioral health programs tailored to the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of refugee and immigrant populations.
  • Innovate and incorporate non-traditional approaches, such as art therapy, exercise, community engagement events, and other non-talk expression modalities, to enhance service delivery of needed services to this population
  • Training and Supervision :
  • Provide training and supervision to front-line community health workers, case managers and outreach workers equipping them with the necessary skills to support the mental health and well-being of refugees and immigrants.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for behavioral health providers, emphasizing cultural competence, trauma-informed care, and effective interventions for new arrivals.
  • Community Collaboration :
  • Collaborate with local community organizations, government agencies, and non-profits to establish a network of support services for refugees and immigrants.
  • Foster partnerships with educational institutions to facilitate research, training, and outreach programs related to behavioral health in immigrant communities.
  • Clinical Oversight :
  • Supervise and mentor clinical staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally sensitive behavioral health services.
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, making data-driven decisions to enhance the effectiveness of interventions and services.
  • Cultural Competency :
  • Promote cultural competency within the organization and among staff, emphasizing the importance of understanding diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences.
  • Advocate for policies and practices that promote inclusivity and address the social determinants of mental health within immigrant and refugee communities.
  • Resource Management :
  • Manage budgetary allocations, grants, and resources effectively, ensuring the optimal utilization of funds to maximize the impact of behavioral health programs.
  • Collaborate with funding organizations and stakeholders to secure financial support for ongoing and new initiatives.

Qualifications :

  • State licensure or certification as an independently licensed Behavioral Health Clinician. (LICSW, PsyD, LMHC, LMFT).
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Must have 3 years of mental health experience in clinical setting.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience in management and program development
  • Experience working across multiple languages and cultures, particularly with refugees or immigrant populations with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing therapy and counseling services to diverse populations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate effectively and respectfully with clients with varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
