Job Description

Are you tired of completing countless 1040s? Guess what? So are we. Sitting down for 12 hours straight to fill numbers in boxes is not motivating.

At Twenty20 Tax and Consulting, we've decided to flip the industry on itself and do taxes differently.

A bit about us :

We at Twenty20 Tax and Consulting are no longer a compliance-only firm. Instead, we are centering our efforts on Tax Advisory (TAS) and Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS).

Our firm works primarily with small- to mid-size business owners and high-net-worth individuals to properly plan for their taxes throughout the entire year, helping shape their financial decisions, and showcasing real tax savings when we file their returns.

Still interested?

It’s not a fit for everyone. It takes someone who likes to see the big picture, connect the dots, continue to learn, and eagerly share what they know.

We’re also a small firm that operates with big firm standards and clients who keep you on your toes. You’ll be part of a tight knit team without the hierarchical dog-and-pony show your voice will be heard, you’ll have autonomy, and the high expectations will grow your skillset faster than being part of a faceless crowd.

You’ll be a great fit if :

  • You thrive on finding ways to save people money on taxes and keeping up to date on tax laws to offer creative solutions.
  • You have a solid understanding of how the tax code works (specifically for business entities).
  • You enjoy interacting with clients throughout the year to understand their business and personal tax situations, explain their options, and provide tax advisory services.
  • You enjoy preparing and reviewing complex returns that showcase the final tax savings for our clients.
  • You have a knack for spotting potential tax errors when reviewing clients’ accounting systems.
  • You want to help train internal staff and build an incredible tax advisory team.

To be considered you’ll need :

  • 4+ years in public accounting, preferably at a mid-to large-size firm
  • 1+ years of reviewing the work of others
  • A CPA license (or CPA-eligible), be an enrolled agent, or have an LLM / JD in tax

Key Responsibilities and Requirements :

  • Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for various clients, including partnerships / LLCs, corporations, estates and trusts, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  • Prepare tax projections and quarterly estimates.
  • Prepare workpapers, working trial balances, and year-end adjusting entries.
  • Assist with client bookkeeping and / or accounting needs.
  • Identify tax issues and propose strategies to resolve them.
  • Deliver tax advisory services for clients seeking to better understand their financial picture and how to run their businesses more efficiently.
  • Collaborate with and mentor other team members help train them the way you wish someone took the time to train you.

Who We Are Looking For :

  • Intermediate level of knowledge about tax preparation, tax laws, accounting, and bookkeeping, with a strong drive to stay current on changes to federal, state, and local tax laws, and be a resource for clients and the firm.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe, QuickBooks / Xero, digital workload management, and tax preparation software (CCH Axcess or ProSystem preferred) and comfortable learning new software programs
  • Ability to efficiently balance multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, and eager to learn new tasks and take on new projects
  • Willingness to take initiatives on projects, ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as collaborate and assist colleagues
  • Ability to complete work accurately, with strong attention to detail, and in a timely manner
  • Provide exceptional service to every client through clear communication, individual attention, and responsiveness
  • Positive attitude and open to feedback necessary for continued growth and development
  • Willingness to work the hours needed in peak busy season, especially nearing deadlines

Why Us :

We are as passionate about our employees as we are our clients, offering the camaraderie of a smaller firm with the strong professional support and flexibility that larger firms offer.

We provide excellent benefits, a strong compensation package, and a focus on fostering a culture of appreciation and teamwork.

We have an eye on growth, but a desire to maintain the small team feeling that puts people first.

Salary :

Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.

Benefits :

  • Health insurance, including dental and vision
  • 401K, with employer match
  • Paid holidays, including the day after the tax deadline, PTO and sick time

Company Description

At Twenty20 Tax and Consulting, we are as passionate about our employees as we are our clients. We believe in building a team that respects, counts on, and enjoys working together.

We look for fun people who embrace a challenge and care about the client. We think big and feel small. We seek candidates who’ve worked in larger CPA firms and know how to buckle up for the busy season and dive into challenging projects with finesse, but who are looking for a greater sense of purpose than just being a cog in the wheel.

People who believe that getting to know the clients and their needs will benefit both the client and the firm. Innovative people who like to share their ideas for improvement, whether it’s related to benefitting a client’s bottom line, creating firm efficiencies, or simply shaking up the snacks stocked in the break room.
