Established in 2006, William J. Ostiguy High School is an alternative Boston Public School operated by Action for Boston Community Development Inc.

Join us as a Mathematics Teacher in creating a supportive and enriching environment for our youth.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide instructions in Mathematics for high school students, grades 9 through 12 with a focus on promoting an atmosphere of inquiry.
• Follow the Massachusetts curriculum frameworks, city-wide learning standards and Ostiguy High School curriculum guide.
• Develop materials, assessments, resources and standards for evaluation.
• Maintain accurate attendance and grading records.
• Provide a stable learning environment through a focused classroom management approach.
• Participate in all staff and program development activities.
• Communicate with students and parents regarding student attendance, academic performance and behavior.
• Participate in student teacher mediations.
• Participate in and facilitate after-school activities as needed.
• Attend all staff meetings.
• Follow all Ostiguy High School policies.
• Work closely with counselors for behavior management.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

• A Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and one to three years of previous teaching experience with youth is required.
• MA Teacher certification is required or must be able to obtain certification within the first academic year of employment.
• Previous teaching experience in an alternative high school setting is highly preferred.
• Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a teaching team, with fellow staff and with parents.
• Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work in a team required.
• Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
