About The Position
Job Title : EEG Technician Job Specialty : Neurodiagnostic Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Monday-Sunday, 3 12-hour night shifts Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum 2 years of EEG experience License : EEG Registered (ABRET) Certifications : EEG Registry Required (ABRET) Must-Have : - Proficiency in measuring and marking using the 10 / 20 International System of Measurement- Experience with EEG Requisition Software such as Natus, XLTEK, Encompass (EPIC), and Office 365- Technical troubleshooting skills- Ability to provide preceptor supervision to new technologists and student interns Job Description : Perform routine and complex EEG procedures, including portable, sleep-deprived, neonatal, and ECS studies.
- Identify and rectify basic equipment issues as needed.- Conduct EEG procedures using appropriate test strategies, montages, and filter settings, including the archiving and transfer of records.
- Adapt methods and instrumentation based on patient history, clinical observations, and EEG findings to obtain optimal results.
- Perform visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potentials in various care settings such as laboratories, intensive care units, and operating rooms.
- Manage long-term video / EEG monitoring of patients with scalp and intracranial electrodes.- Adhere to standards of practice for electroencephalogram recordings, ensuring accurate management of EEG recordings and archiving.
- Gather relevant patient information from charts, history, and progress notes.- Assist with the technical operation of specialized neurodiagnostic procedures including long-term monitoring, evoked potentials, and intraoperative evoked potential monitoring.
- Demonstrate proper infection control practices and ensure hazardous materials are used and stored safely.- Work involves standing and walking in various patient care areas and moving heavy equipment like EEG machines, with reasonable anticipation of biohazard exposure.
- Represent actions to be initiated during patient medical emergencies and seizure onset situations effectively. This position requires clinical scrubs of galaxy blue top and black bottoms and involves a patient volume of 5-7 patients a day, serving adults, pediatric, and neonatal demographics.
Hospital experience is required.
