LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Paralegal for a boutique firm with a sophisticated trusts and estates practice. The office is located in Midtown and requires the Paralegal to be fully in office during training.
This position is full-time hours and offers a complete comprehensive benefit package.
Location : Midtown, hybrid after training (4 days in)
Hours : 9AM-5PM, overtime as needed
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Maintain checkbook and banking records; pay bills, and computr and disburse beneficiary distributions; compute and pay executor and trustee commissions
- Interact with clients and court personnel, interface with clients and client advisors; generally provide support to active trust and estates practice
- Compile information for court filings, returns, accountings, etc.
- Review and interpret wills and trust agreements, in collaboration with attorneys, to implement the plan during the estate and trust administration process
- Prepare and file of all documents required to probate wills; prepare receipt and release agreements, disclaimers, affidavits, and accounting petitions
- Estate correspondence, memoranda, and agreements with the ability to revise, format, and finalize documents
- Establish and maintain paper and electronic files utilizing the firm’s record protocol procedures and DMS
- Prepare Crummey Notices
- Maintain Will vault and Will database
- Obtain EINs and maintain EIN database
- Manage departmental trackers
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved program, required
- Minimum of 1 year of Trust and Estates experience; must be tax oriented
- Notary Public (or willingness / ability to become a Notary Public)
- Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Worldox, Nuance, Adobe, Zoom
- Experience with GEMS, NYS Surrogate’s Court HotDocs and other estate administration / taxation software a plus
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
- Ability to multi task, work independently, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills
Salary range of $80K-$150K annually and is commensurate with experience .
