About The Position
Job Title : Certified Surgical Technologist / Operating Room Technician Job Specialty : Operating Room Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Days, 4x10-hour shifts (07 : 00 - 17 : 30).
On-call : 4-6 calls within a 6-week schedule (30-minute response required). Weekends : 4-6 shifts within a 6-week schedule (could be day, evening, or night shifts), Holidays as per department need.
Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : Minimum 2 years required, with experience in multi-specialties, including Orthopedics, Robotics, ENT, GYN, Vascular, Thoracic & General.
Level 1 trauma experience required. License : Certification as Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) required Must-Have : - Experience caring for Covid patients.- Ability to float as needed.
Compliance with vaccine requirements.- Ability to respond to emergency situations and perform any reasonable accommodation required tasks.
Job Description : Utilize appropriate physician preference cards to anticipate supplies and equipment needed for assigned cases.
- Prepare room supplies according to operative procedures.- Assist with moving, positioning, and draping patients safely.
- Maintain aseptic technique and assist in obtaining specimens, ensuring proper preparation and handling.- Perform correct counts according to hospital policies.
- Anticipate and adjust rapidly to the instrument needs of the surgeon.- Assist in the maintenance and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
- Maintain good interpersonal skills and provide patient-centered care with respect and professionalism.- Communicate effectively with surgeons, team members, patients, and families.
- Demonstrate commitment to service excellence, safety, and confidentiality.- Participate in educational programs to maintain and update clinical skills, supporting a learning environment.
- Contribute to creating and facilitating changes for improvement in the work environment / processes.- Engage in cross-training and participate in new employee orientation.
- Maintain appropriate safety measures in surgical areas, following all safety protocols.- Manage operational knowledge of autoclaves, sterilizers, and specialized surgical equipment.
