Pharmacy Technician, Registered and CPhT- Floater Main Hospital - Mineola
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Pharmacy Technician, Registered and CPhT- Floater Main Hospital - Mineola.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting the supervising pharmacist with any required tasks that Have been approved by federal and state regulations and Hospital policies for performance by non-licensed pharmacy personnel.
Job Responsibilities :
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Processes supplies received from vendors. Maintains familiarity with formulary drugs regarding their dosage forms, strengths, generictrade names, storage conditions and location in the pharmacy.
Informs purchasing assistant of low inventory levels. Forwards completed paperwork and invoices to the purchasing assistant.
Informs purchasing assistant of any discrepancies, damages, etc.
Assists pharmacists in the dispensing area and assists pharmacists in the sterile preparation area. Fills medication orders generated by the staff pharmacist, initializing the label, placing medication in the proper container and having the completed preparation checked by a staff pharmacist.
Keeps medication areas stocked. Prepares sterile parenteral and irrigation products under the supervision of a staff pharmacist.
Performs IV manufacturing list functions. Maintains accurate batch logs. Performs daily parenteral room inventory reporting to purchasing assistant.
Responsible for maintaining the functionality of the the Automated Dispensing Cabinets machines( Pyxis / Omnicell). Restocks cabinets to par levels.
Processes returns. Charges patient care area accounts for medications restocked. Processes patient medication returns
Responsible for maintaining the emergency medication boxtray exchange system. Follows procedures for replacing used or expired boxes on the patient care areas.
Updates log book and location board. Inspects and replaces used and expired medications with medications having longest available expiration dates.
Updates schematic chart and labels box with earliest expiring medications
Responsible for the handling of controlled substances in accordance with NYS, federal and local regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains accurate controlled drug log entries. Accurately completes controlled drug floor stock requisitions. Processes controlled drug returns according to policy and procedures, and state and federal regulations.
Responsible for the proper operation of the cartfill robotic system and for performing medication cart exchange. Process patient medication credits.
Return extra and discontinued IVPB medications to Pharmacy for credit.
Responsible for participating in the Medication Reconciliation program. Speaks with patients at admission to determine home meds.
Ensures proper medication, dose, frequency and indication.
Minimum Qualifications :
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Pharmacy Technician Certification.
Registered NYS Pharmacy Tech
Basic computer skills.
Good communication (both oral and written), organizational, detail oriented, and record keeping skills.
Ability to prepare sterile products using proper aseptic technique.
Preferred Qualifications :
Pharmacy Technician Certification. Ability to prepare sterile products using proper aseptic technique.
