POSITION : Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Associate Teacher Paraprofessional
LOCATION : Schofield Early Childhood Center
WORK YEAR : 2024-2025 School Year
SALARY : Per 2654 Contract Starting $
Qualifications :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and / or abilities required.
- Associate degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development or the equivalent or a valid classroom CDA credential or an existing 120 hour approval letter from MDE required.
- Ability to perform physical demands of the job including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting and standing for long periods of time.
- Experience in a Preschool setting is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents and other staff.
- Ability to work directly with students in an appropriate and professional manner, follow program curriculum and to give direction as needed.
- Display sensitivity to the multi-ethnicity of students
- Experience with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD is preferred
- Familiarity with GSRP guidelines is preferred
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Work as a team member in providing a quality educational preschool program;
- Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring curriculum and assessment;
- Assist in establishing parent involvement activities and participating in home visits;
- Work with individual and small groups of students;
- Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts;
- Assist children with personal health care needs;
- Work collaboratively and communicate with the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans, activities, and classroom tasks;
- Assist teacher with monitoring behavior and supporting the educational process in the classroom;
- Observe students’ performance and record relevant data to assess progress;
- Collect and document data regarding the student(s);
- Maintain accurate and complete student records;
- Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and / or playground;
- Participate in trainings and on-going professional development;
- Able to work flexible hours as needed for family involvement activities, including home visits, recruitment events, open house;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
