Social Media Manager / Producer

The News Movement
CA, US
Full-time

The Role

We are looking for a west coast-based Social Media Manager / Producer to join our team, primarily to oversee social media management for an exciting new partnership with a leading national satellite radio and podcast provider.

This role focuses on managing the client's social media presence while ensuring that content is relevant, timely, and engaging for social media audiences.

While the primary responsibilities are social media management, this role also includes some editorial duties (as needed) supporting entertainment news coverage for both the client and TNM’s editorial channels.

This role is a unique blend of social media management and editorial support, ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment and can take ownership of social media strategies while contributing to entertainment news coverage.

The ideal candidate is deeply immersed in pop culture, skilled in social media content creation, and has the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including programming and talent relations teams.

About TNM

The News Movement (TNM) is a new media business bringing together leading industry figures and passionate journalists to help reset how we tell the news in an era of declining trust and increasing misinformation.

We know that many voices are missing from the present conversation - we want to change that.

We are driven by our purpose - to help millions of people around the world be better informed. We will do that by solving the under-supply of trusted, objective, high-quality news and useful information on social media and other digital platforms.

We are particularly focused on serving younger social audiences. Our newsroom teams believe that factual unbiased journalism can be told in different and exciting ways via the channels that our audiences already enjoy.

We want to explain the world and uncover the stories that matter.

Our commercial team - which operates in tandem with our newsroom editorial team - are taking the lessons learned in our newsroom to help brands tell their stories.

By applying the rigour of journalism, storytelling skills, and social understanding we are able to help brands navigate the digital space.

Our areas of expertise include content creation, creator management, and consultancy. We offer account management services for brands looking to tap into the younger generation of audiences with a tone of authenticity and brand alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management : Develop, create, and manage social media content (both static and video) for the client’s brand, ensuring it aligns with platform trends and audience interests.
  • Content Strategy & Planning : Manage content calendars, schedule posts, and ensure timely and relevant content across platforms.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management : Work closely with both internal teams and client contacts, managing multiple stakeholders and priorities while maintaining a consistent workflow.
  • Trend Monitoring & Analytics : Monitor social trends, especially in entertainment, to keep content fresh and relevant.

Use analytics and SEO insights to optimize social media performance.

  • Editorial Support : Occasionally contribute to editorial tasks for our brand, including conducting on-site interviews (when applicable) and working with talent relations teams to enhance content.
  • Project Management : Independently handle multiple projects, delivering polished, error-free content and maintaining flexibility across time zones.

Required Skills and Traits

  • Proven experience managing social media channels for major brands (agency or client-facing experience preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort being on camera as needed for both commercial & editorial work.
  • Skilled in creating static and video content, with advanced proficiency in Canva, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and report on short- and long-term content, using data to guide performance improvements.
  • Strong understanding of SEO and audience analytics, with experience leveraging data to enhance content reach and engagement.
  • Experience in entertainment journalism with the ability to conduct interviews and provide end-to-end editorial support as needed.
  • A deep understanding of pop culture and the ability to stay up-to-date with trends across social platforms.
  • Comfortable working independently across time zones and managing multiple projects and stakeholders effectively.
