Director of Engineering (Full Stack Engineer)

We seek an experienced Director of Engineering (Full Stack Engineer) to join our team. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities in these critical areas :

Technical Leadership :

  • Guide the engineering team to achieve product goals while promoting high-quality software development and fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Oversee the implementation of best practices in coding, security, and scalability.
  • Define the technical vision and roadmap for products or features, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and long-term impact.

Team Management :

Set clear performance goals for individual engineers and the team.

Strategic Planning :

  • Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Develop and implement a long-term technology roadmap aligned with the business strategy.

What You’ll Do for Us :

Full-Stack Engineering :

  • Define the technical vision and roadmap for assigned features or products, considering scalability, maintainability, and long-term impact.
  • Design, develop, and implement high-quality, reusable, and maintainable code for front-end and back-end components.
  • Develop user interfaces using modern web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks like React, Vue.js).
  • Develop APIs using robust back-end frameworks and languages (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js).
  • Design and implement data models and manage data persistence effectively.
  • Integrate front-end and back-end components to create a cohesive user experience.
  • Design and implement automated monitoring and alerting systems to identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Develop and implement automated processes for deployments, rollbacks, and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tools and technologies, including cloud platforms Azure and containerization technologies (e.

g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Develop and implement automated tests and alerts to proactively identify and troubleshoot data issues before they impact downstream data consumers.
  • Implement and maintain data observability tools and techniques (e.g., Azure monitor) to monitor data quality, pipeline health, and performance metrics.

Data Engineering :

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using big data technologies (Spark and cloud platforms Azure) with a focus on efficiency, reliability, and scalability
  • Implement and optimize data quality checks and data cleansing routines to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouses and data models optimized for storage, retrieval, and performance.
  • Automate data processing tasks and workflows using scripting languages (e.g., Python) and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Expertise in big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP).
  • Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, data pipelines, and data quality management tools.
  • Experience with SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Scala).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

MLOps & DevOps :

  • Good understanding of ML and its lifecycle along with Working Knowledge of MLFLow and in cloud technology like Azure ML
  • Automate software delivery pipelines using CI / CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery) tools and practices
  • Configure and manage containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for efficient application deployment and scaling.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 15+ years of experience in software development with a strong understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering principles and practices (e.g., big data technologies, data warehousing, data pipelines)
  • 3+ years’ experience in data and application reliability and Devops / MLOps
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring software development teams (ideally including data engineers).
  • Experience in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable, and secure software systems, including data pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively across both software development and data engineering challenges.
  • A passion for technology and a commitment to continuous learning

Additional Skills (desirable)

  • Experience in Knowledge graph and Graph databases.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and data security practices.
  • Experience in data analysis or machine learning (a plus)
