About the Opportunity

We are seeking a creative and passionate Art / Graphic Design Teacher to join our team. This part-time role will involve teaching high school students both traditional and digital art forms.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in various art techniques and can inspire and engage students through both hands-on and digital mediums.

You are responsible for regularly assessing students’ growth and using data to inform instruction. You will also support individual behavior needs and engage with students and families during personal appointments.

You will always promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for students, staff, and partner organizations.

As a Lead Teacher, you play a critical role in ensuring our scholars grow academically and have a positive learning experience.

This is an in-person role for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.

Responsibilities :

  • Instruction and Curriculum Development :
  • Develop and deliver engaging art and graphic design lessons that incorporate both traditional and digital art techniques.
  • Create a curriculum that exposes students to a range of artistic styles and tools, including painting, drawing, graphic design software, and digital media.
  • Foster students' creativity and artistic skills through a variety of projects and assignments.
  • Student Engagement and Support :
  • Encourage student participation and creativity in both individual and group projects.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to help students develop their artistic abilities.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe to express their artistic ideas.
  • Classroom Management :
  • Set clear expectations and maintain a supportive and organized classroom environment.
  • Facilitate discussions and activities that promote artistic exploration and collaboration.
  • Manage classroom supplies and resources effectively to support student learning.
  • Administrative Duties :
  • Attend periodic meetings with the High School Program Manager to discuss student progress and curriculum updates.
  • Contribute to program evaluations and provide input on potential improvements.

What Qualifies You :

  • Artistic and Technical Skills :
  • Proficiency in traditional art techniques (e.g., drawing, painting) and digital art tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, digital drawing tablets).
  • Experience in graphic design and a strong understanding of design principles and software.
  • Ability to create and implement diverse art projects that span both traditional and digital mediums.
  • Teaching Experience :
  • Previous experience teaching art or graphic design to high school students is preferred.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students through innovative teaching methods, including hands-on projects and digital art exploration.
  • Educational Philosophy :
  • Passion for art education, with a commitment to nurturing students' creative expression and technical skills in both traditional and digital formats.
  • Openness to feedback and a dedication to professional growth, with a focus on enhancing students' artistic capabilities and knowledge.
