Pharmacy Specialist-Clinical
Job Summary : The Pharmacy Specialist - Clinical promotes rational drug therapy to physicians, optimize neonatal, pediatric and adult patient outcomes, and minimize hospital costs whenever possible.
Monitors patient medication profiles. Provides drug information and pharmacy consultation secondary to physician request.
Participates in clinical research and publication. Documents all clinical intervention activities. Acts as a preceptor for Pharmacy students and residents on clinical rotation.
Conducts routine continuous quality improvement data collection. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals.
Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience : Graduation from school of pharmacy accredited by the American Board on pharmaceutical education.
PharmD. (Doctor of Pharmacy) Degree preferred. Minimum two years of clinical or hospital pharmacy experience, including supervision of interns and technicians preferred.
- Knowledge and Skills : Able to write legibly speak; assemble, troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment and perform technical age-specific patient care activities as required;
- use computer and software programs necessary to the position. Able to communicate effectively, and professionally with others, be assertive and consistent in following policies;
- work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure, collaborate with others; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing and on the telephone;
- perform basic math functions essential to position; think critically; organize and prioritize workload; manage multiple assignments effectively;
work well under pressure, problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail; document legibly; use computer for essential job duties.
Able to distinguish colors as necessary; write, hear, read and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone;
identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written document necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications : Current California pharmacist license required.
