JOB GOAL
Incumbents are responsible for providing quality childcare and instruction in a day care setting and may be responsible for adhering to ADHS codes and statutes. QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a fingerprint card and the TB test, and First Aid / CPR, and Food Handlers Card
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
- 6 months experience in a licensed child care or Preschool facility
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitoring and assisting children with activities.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Provides care and instruction to promote academic and social / emotional growth.
- Monitors children’s behavior and safety inside and outside of the classroom.
- Assists with clean-up and other related tasks following daily activities.
- Prepares classroom for activities, including creating lessons and preparing materials.
- Creates bulletin boards, maintains materials and supplies, contacts parents and may make copies.
- May attend in-service training sessions.
- Covers classrooms when there are staff absences
- Positions in this class typically require : stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
Incumbents may be subjected to blood and other body fluids.
Medium Work : Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
- Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
- Monitoring and assisting children with activities.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
