Independent of supervision in a hospital setting, as a significant part of daily duties, responsible for treatment of patients with life-threatening illness or injury, whose conditions are likely to change on a moment-to-moment basis.
Provide nursing care to either emergency room or intensive care unit patients using established protocols set up by small animal emergency and critical care faculty.
Employees are expected to be able to work independently under these guidelines in a teaching environment including providing quasi-instruction to veterinary students.
