The STAT team is agroup of critical care trained professional nurses who areavailable 24 / 7 for any issue within the hospital and medicalcollege.

STAT nurses provide specialized care to all patients,employees, and visitors requiring acute medical attention at AMCHand Albany medical college.

The team members also contribute theirknowledge educating staff, patients, and families to recognizeclinical deterioration and how to make a proactive assessment andobservation for patients at risk for deterioration.

STAT teammembers give MOCK code training for nurses and ancillary staff tohelp facilitate better outcome in codesituations.

Hourly Range : $35.81 -59.09

STATNurses respond to :

Code stroke, CodeThrombectomy, Code STEMI, Code 10, Anesthesia Emergency, Code Blue,Code Malignant Hyperthermia, Code Pink and Rapid Response pages.

Aswell as any employee with questions about Hospital policies,procedures, or patient care.

STAT nurses useproblem focused physical exam to evaluate and treat patientsaccording to protocols.

Stabilize decompensatingpatients on the floor and in ICUs.

Manage ICUpatient on floor.

Facilitate movement of patientsto higher level of care when needed.

Use thechain of command when resolving issues.

Assistingvisitors and staff to ED after a codegray.

Administer IV push medications onapplicable floors (ex. Cardizem, Amiodarone,Hydralazine)

Utilizesthe Clinical Emergency and Rapid Response Adult Protocol and ACLSto patients including but not limited to thefollowing :

OxygenDesaturation

Increased work ofbreathing

Chest pain

Cardiacarrhythmias

Acute Rales

AcuteBleeding

SymptomaticHypertension

Lethargy

Lethargywith depressed respiratorystatus

Hypoglycemia

Anaphylaxis.

EducationRequirements :

Graduate of aprofessional academic nursing program. Holds current RNRegistration to practice in the State of NewYork.

Experience :

A minimum of three (3) years recentIntensive Care clinical experience in specific patient populationsserved. BLS / ACLScertified.

CommunicationSkills :

Communicates effectively withpatients, family members, employees, and others. Listens activelyand verifies and clarifies messages.

Seeks the input of others toachieve consensus. Applies problem solving, negotiating, andconflict resolution skills into communication.

Utilizes Chain ofCommand, as needed, to reach optimum outcomes. Reads and interpretsdocuments such as Quality Reports and Hospital Policy andProcedures.

Ensures that patient care is documented on establishedforms.

ReasoningAbility :

Identifies problems, collectsdata, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Solvespractical problems and deals with a variety of situations whereonly limited standardization exists.

Interprets a variety ofinstructions in written, oral, diagram or scheduleform.
