Ultrasonographer (PRN-As Needed)
ABOUT THE ROLE :
Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses ultrasound technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the continuum.
YOUR ROLE WOULD ENCOMPASS :

- Performs ultrasound procedures to include abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, small parts, interventional and Doppler.
- Uses sterile technique as required for interventional procedures.
- Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and transducer selection.
- Competently operates ultrasound equipment and support system including hospital information system (HIS), radiology information system (RIS), scheduling system, picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and offsite radiologist services
- Utilizes department computer systems, PACS, etc. to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
- Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
- Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
- Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
- Participates in the department’s quality improvement plan as required.
- Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate vendors as needed.
- Keeps work area properly supplied.
- Participates in the training of diagnostic medical sonography students and provides general support of their clinical education; completes required documentation as indicated and adheres to the expectations of the Bryan College of Health Sciences General Sonography program.
- Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES (PROVEN PERFORMANCE IN) :
Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalency required. A minimum of one (1) year experience preferred. Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification or candidacy for ARDMS registry within six (6) months of registry eligibility required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
