Job Description
The Director of Strategic Operations leads a team with broad responsibility to the supply chain. Primary accountabilities include contract and master data management, SOP creation and management, third party operations strategy, operations reporting and analytics, system development and management, and Operations compliance.
This team supports the entire US Operations network and provides ad hoc support to the broader Americas organization. As a member of the operations leadership team, the individual must both lead their team and provide council to strategic decision making.
Location : Hybrid in Orlando or Alpharetta Preferred, will consider other locations for the right candidate.
Scope : US; Team : 3 Direct Reports, 14 Indirect
Team Leadership
- Provide leadership, talent development, and succession planning for the Strategic Operations team including a focus on employee engagement and cross training for coverage of functional responsibilities
- Ensure business continuity of all processes managed by this team
Data and Analytics
- Establish tools, reports, and value add information to identify new initiative opportunities and overcome obstacles in achieving current targets.
- Develop analyses and models for projects and continuous improvement of processes, working collaboratively across functions to develop optimal low cost / high value solutions as prioritized by Supply Chain leadership.
- Create, develop and maintain data information tools for field personnel that will facilitate management of the Supply Chain toward critical Key Performance Indicator objectives (e.
g. Operations Portal and PowerBI applications).
Transformation
- Serve as Lead and Primary POC for US Service Center Transformation Initiatives
- Provide Supply Chain initiative project management to monitor progress against budget and forecast targets to ensure accurate and timely reporting of progress on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Identify new initiative opportunities and overcoming obstacles in achieving current targets.
Achieve Initiative targets assigned to Strategic Operations.
Operations Strategy
- Design, Implement and Administer the Service Center Network Vendor Management Strategies and Processes to Optimize Supply Chain Process Reliability, Service and Cost
- Support network optimization efforts through the operations lens including operational structure and timing
Contracts and Master Data
- Responsible for the Plant Contract Management System and continuous improvement of the process for all administering all Operations 3rd party agreements.
- Liaise with Legal regarding all CHEP plant contracts.
- Ensure compliance to agreed contract language and that appropriate authority is given for new contracts and / or contract amendments
- Comply with the plant code set up, maintenance and closure processes for CHEP US to ensure that correct plant information is reflected in all systems in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for all Standard Operating Procedures, Operating Manuals, Operations Business Continuity Plan, and training materials and documentation for Plant Operations.
This responsibility includes ensuring accurate and up to date information and training is being provided and documented for ISO 9001 compliance.
Compliance
- Lead second line of defense compliance activities through both the Operations Compliance and Systems compliance teams
- Assure legal and regulatory adherence to labor hour policies
- Identify and facilitation corrective actions on any process noncompliance
- Facilitate all Brambles Audit activities as requested
Centralized Communication and Field Support
- Lead centralized monthly and quarterly reporting and meetings
- Build strategy around centralized internal and external communications related the plant network and operations vendors
- Facilitate change management and continuing education as needed
Authority / Decision Making
- Purchasing decisions authorization for Plant Operations support and training materials
- Team staffing decisions
- Process change recommendations and decisions for Strategic Operations

Qualifications
- 4-year degree in a relevant business discipline e.g. engineering, industrial engineering, operations or supply chain management, finance
- Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

Experience
- 5 plus years’ experience in managing a team supporting production, operations or supply chain activities
- 3 plus years direct management experience in a supply chain discipline e.g. logistics, operations, planning, manufacturing
- Preferred experience in Operations, Project Management
- Preferred negotiation experience
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations and cross-functional collaboration for all levels in the organization
- Proven project management skills with demonstrated ability to drive projects that require cross-functional resources
- Experience in completing analyses utilizing Six Sigma, Statistical, and Lean tools and techniques
- Demonstrated ability to identify and drive process improvements
- Must be highly organized with excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Self-starter able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to quickly develop and execute a plan amongst ever changing priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft applications Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Word
- SAP and BW data mining and basic system understanding
