Part Time Hourly Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Specialist
Reports to : Executive Director Facility Planning

Position Purpose
Assists in the ongoing development, maintenance, and integration of data relevant to facility planning. Collects, records, and edits information related to school attendance boundaries, residential development, streets / transportation, and school site / floor plans.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintains the GIS database and troubleshoots data issues.
- Edits Fort Worth ISD geographic information in the GIS database as needed.
- Creates thematic ad-hoc maps for various departments and stakeholders.
- Generates reports using GIS and other data sources.
- Travels to District locations occasionally for field verification of facility or site information.
- Part-Time Hourly will work approximately 14 hours per week.
- Employment as a Part Time Hourly does not guarantee a minimum number of work hours.
Safety
- Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of District policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Knowledge of office procedures and of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic.
- Knowledge of GIS administration, maintenance techniques, and procedures.
- Skill in program planning, development, analysis and evaluation.
- Skill in design software including AutoCAD, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online.
- Ability to use application software to access databases, email, create spreadsheets, and process professional documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written forms to a wide audience.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

- Posture : Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing / pulling, and twisting.

- Lifting : Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
- Environment : Works in an office setting.
- Attendance : Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

Minimum Required Qualifications
- Education : Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university required.
- Certification / License : None.
- Experience : Proven experience in GIS related projects.
