Salary : $28-35 / hour

A furniture manufacturer in SW Chicago is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to join their team.

PAY : $28-35 / hour, depending on experience

SHIFT : 7am-3 : 30pm

Objective :

Perform manufacturing and building maintenance, installation, troubleshooting and preventative / predictive maintenance in a plant manufacturing environment;

Electrical wiring & Hook-ups 110v, 220v & 440 -3 Phase, involving Electrical / Controls - PLC, Production Equipment, Mechanical, Plumbing, Hydraulic / Pneumatic, Welding, and Metalworking.

Will be flexible and support production schedules, quality control and safety initiatives with continuous improvement principles.

Responsibilities :

1. Performs all installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair functions on all equipment, motors, pumps, blowers, conveyors and support systems including welding gas supply equipment, robotic welders, lasers, powder coating line, plant HVAC, electrical power, Hydraulic and air systems, Fork Lift, lighting, building and plumbing systems.

2. Responsible for having a firm knowledge of the plant's layout, systems, and equipment. Must be able to anticipate plant priorities as the situation arises.

3. Working knowledge of water treatment / conditioning systems / controls.

4. Installs new facility equipment power, including secondary distribution systems, house wiring and three phase 440v industrial power.

5. Supports and is committed to Plant safety, health, environmental, security and quality principles.

6. Installs new and used equipment also repairing / rebuilding innovations on existing equipment.

7. Operates all types of mobile equipment including Fork lifts, lifting platforms and baskets lifts. Also able to use various height ladders safely and confidently.

8. Fabricates fixtures, tables, work cells or assembly lines from Plant Layout drawings and sketches.

9. Develops, implements and troubleshoots manufacturing programs for high-speed changeovers.

10. Facilitates continuous process and safety improvement functions on all equipment, processes and facility while including Lock Out / Tag Out and OSHA Standards.

11. Communicates with managers and lead men to coordinate maintenance activities of individual work cells in all areas of Office and Plant.

12. Maintain complete personal tool inventory necessary to perform job functions.

13. Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.

repairs or replaces broken parts.

14. Researches, sources and submits order request for necessary parts and components to repair or rebuild equipment

15. Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment preventative maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance and equipment repairs.

16. Maintain inventory and contact information on repair equipment and supplies.

17. Training new maintenance employees in processes and safety / health practices while utilizing proper protective gear as needed.

18. Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.

19. Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping practices in the maintenance areas and general facility.

Complete special projects and assignments as required.

Qualifications :

Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.

Clean Driving Record.

Successful completion of industrial technologies certificate program preferred.

3-5 years progressive technical experience Industrial Manufacturing environment.

Computer & Technically literate, can access the internet to research maintenance needs of the company in order to make purchase requisitions.

Able to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics and service manuals.

Excellent manual dexterity; while performing the duties of this job, employee is required to walk, sit, stand, use hands to manipulate, handle and feel objects, tools or controls.

Employee required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs and ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Confident working at heights.

Proper health physical evaluation test must be passed for this job. Occasionally lift or move up to 50+lbs.

Working Conditions :

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. In the manufacturing environment, there is exposure to noise, dust, grease, fumes, sparks and variation in temperatures.

Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.

An employee in this position is required to wear safety steel toe shoes and other protective equipment as necessary in and about the manufacturing facility.

An employee in this position will operate and will work with equipment appropriate to the department.

Some weekends, extended hours, off hours and 'off-shifts' as required by business need.
