The Camphill School is seeking an Academic Support Teacher for the 2024 / 2025 school year. The ideal candidate has experience in Special Education and, or is willing to develop, an interest in Waldorf education.
This is a part-time position, up to 20 hours per week.
We seek an enthusiastic individual who will be able to work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to unfold an academic program that meets the needs of the individual child and provide small group instruction.
Duties include :
- Develop, direct, and implement remedial and specialized instructions to both individual and small groups in the areas of academic instruction (reading, writing, and math)
- Prepare and / or obtain appropriate instructional materials
- Create a safe and welcoming classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with class teacher, class assistants, para-professionals, and other instructional staff in a friendly, professional manner
- Administrative duties in collaboration with therapists and class teacher
- Participate in development, implementation and compliance of IEP
- Implement / Oversee data collection for the purpose of progress monitoring of students' IEP goals
- Writing trimester reports
- Administer standardized and informal tests, as needed
- Participate in IEP team meetings
- Participate in the Admissions Process for new student candidates for the class (parent and student visits, parent interview, etc.)
