The Assistant Director of Community Engagement is a leader in institutional advancement. The Assistant director develops and executes a strategic plan for strengthening our relationship with community stakeholders, civic organizations, education systems, and elected officials.
The Assistant Director is a self-directed, highly organized individual who embraces the opportunity to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders and increase awareness of our brand in South Chicago and throughout the Chicago area.
The position requires availability in the evenings and weekend as well as access to a car to travel throughout the Chicagoland area. Job Description
- The Assistant Director is a key liaison with external stakeholders, including community stakeholders, civic organizations, education systems, philanthropic parties, and elected officials.
- The Assistant Director will work collaboratively and professionally with internal and external constituencies, recognizing strategy partnership opportunities and bringing the partnerships to fruition.
The Assistant Director must be comfortable working at community events to professional spaces with funders, elected officials, and corporate leaders.
- The Assistant Director will develop engagement strategies and implement action plans that strengthen ties between CSU and its external stakeholders for the benefit of students, many facets of the university, our stakeholders, and surrounding communities.
- The Assistant Director will plan and execute collegewide and community events that build partnerships and support the community.
These events are often done in close partnership with various stakeholders across the university.
- Serve as a partnerships strategy advisor, monitoring emerging community needs and strategic partnership opportunities.
- Write a monthly newsletter and write other communication pieces as needed in order to improve CSU’s brand recognition, manage public perception, build partnerships, and support increasing enrollment.
- The Assistant Director will ensure the newsletter distribution list is large, growing, and strategic.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four (4) years (48 months) of work experience in public contact with an agency or organization oriented toward community activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with community-based initiatives.
- Experience working on public policy initiatives.
