Electrode Engineering Intern - Spring/Summer 2025

Job Description

The Electrode Engineering Intern will work intimately with the bench-scale electrode processes. They will work with the R&D Team to improve EnPower’s electrode and cell designs.

The Electrode Engineering Intern will be responsible for providing feedback to the R&D Team on the bench-scale process flow and recommending changes to enable successful experiments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn multiple electrode or cell manufacturing processes (mixing, coating, assembly, and / or finishing).
  • Work with Cell Engineers to design experiments for optimizing electrode performance
  • Perform experiments to improve electrode formulations
  • Understand electrode production specifications and maintain quality control standards.
  • Use a computer to keep detailed records and collect accurate data.
  • Provide observations and feedback to Cell Engineers and / or Engineering Teams on processing challenges.
  • Contribute hands-on work for various projects and experiments.
  • Contribute to development efforts related to pilot line process development, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Attend and engage in engineering design review discussions as needed.
  • Work closely with team members and help whenever necessary.
  • Maintain a safe working environment while adhering to health and safety laws.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a B.S. in a Materials Science or Engineering-related field
  • 1+ years of experience working with lab-scale or manufacturing equipment
  • Knowledge of electrochemistry and / or battery materials
  • Experience using the scientific method to solve problems
  • Detailed work ethic, close attention to detail, and precise communication
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience in electrode / cell manufacturing techniques (operating mixers, coaters, punching machines, stackers, ultrasonic welders, auto-pipettes, testing equipment, etc.)
  • Microsoft office proficiency and computer literacy
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform the following for extended periods of time :
  • Standing or sitting
  • Climbing / squatting / walking
  • Repetitive motions and lifting
