Job Description
Pack, preserve, crate, and prepare for shipment a variety of helicopter components, parts, and assemblies such as fuselages, transmissions, tail cones, rotor blades, gear boxes, rotor heads, etc.
and a variety of miscellaneous spares.
Use power and hand tools to fabricate shipping containers, crates and holding fixtures.
Layout, drill, and bolt supporting framework to the base of prefabricated shipping containers.
Stencil and strap in accordance with MIL standards or commercial practice.
Prepare and check all paperwork necessary to ship military or commercial items.
Determine shipping routes on standard items by checking the parcel post zone rates, and / or the traffic department for rate and routing information.
Obtain and input information to terminal.
Load outgoing items on freight cars or truck, etc.
Load, unload, and store containers, boxes, materials, and equipment used for processing items that are handled by Boxing, Packaging, and Shipping departments.
Use hand and power operated material handling equipment; occasionally operate a forklift.
When workload demands, perform the duties of a Box Maker.
Ensure MIL & Shipping specs are maintained.
Contact carriers regarding pick up of shipments; verify quantity of packed shipping containers to Bill of Lading.
Maintain inventory of shipping supplies.
Post and maintain daily accumulations of special shipments not processed through terminal, and daily accumulations of weights, measurements, and number of pieces, boxes and / or cartons shipped.
Occasionally use company vehicles to transport and deliver materials to designated area.
May be required to load or unload items awaiting shipment onto shelves or in accumulation areas, perform other duties usually of a related or similar nature.
Refer unusual situations or difficulties to Working Leader or Supervisor.
Perform operator checklist as required and comply with all EH&S procedures.
As required segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
