Role : In-House Counsel

Compensation : $160k+, plus Bonus DOE

Work Setting : Hybrid

Location : Greenville / Spartanburg, SC - WILL RELOCATE QUALIFIED CANDIDATES

Are you an experienced attorney with a strong background in litigation management and regulatory compliance? Our client, a prominent player in a highly regulated industry, is seeking a skilled Litigation & Compliance Counsel to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work across a diverse range of legal matters and collaborate with various business units.

Key Responsibilities :

Litigation Management : Oversee litigation and pre-litigation matters in coordination with local outside counsel. Responsibilities include settlement negotiations, managing outside counsel, and handling indemnification issues.

While outside counsel handles drafting responses to discovery, briefs, and motions, this role involves reviewing and editing these documents.

Legal Research & Advisory : Conduct legal research on various issues, analyze findings, and provide advice to business units.

This includes providing specialized expertise in debt collection and consumer / business bankruptcy law.

  • Contract Review & Drafting : Review, edit, and draft contract documents as required, ensuring they align with the company's policies and legal requirements.
  • Compliance Oversight : Analyze and revise business policies and procedures to ensure compliance with FDCPA, FCRA, and other relevant federal and state regulations.

Monitor and advise on legislative and regulatory developments affecting the company.

  • Mediation & Arbitration : Direct and manage mediation and arbitration proceedings, working closely with outside counsel and internal stakeholders.
  • Policy Development : Analyze litigation trends and case developments to inform company policies and legal strategies.
  • General Counsel Support : Provide legal counsel and act as a liaison to various business units, offering guidance on a wide range of legal matters and supporting the overall legal needs of the organization.

Qualifications :

  • Extensive experience in litigation management, preferably in a highly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state compliance requirements, particularly FDCPA and FCRA.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and advisory skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate with outside counsel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal business units and external parties.
