Civil Engineer/Project Engineer

Our client is a privately-held vertically integrated real estate firm specializing in the development, management and long-term ownership of industrial properties nationwide.

Position : Project Engineer- La Grange, IL

Project Engineer personnel have varying degrees of responsibilities. Our engineers provide support to and work with all levels of staff from project managers, architects, construction supervisors, construction administrators, asset management, business development and upper management.

Project Engineers are expected to maintain a positive and effective work environment both internally and while working with all our external consultants.

Responsibilities :

Perform site development due diligence.

Prepare schematic site planning, geometric site plans, lease exhibits.

Prepare conceptual civil engineering for grading, drainage, and utility planning.

Prepare site grading cut-fill calculations with earthwork software SiteWorxOS.

Provide quantity takeoffs and assist in the completion of project estimates.

Find, contract and manage survey, geotech, environmental, traffic civil and

landscape consultants for land acquisitions, building acquisitions and building

construction projects of all sizes.

Review Land Title documents and coordinate ALTA / NSPS Land Title Surveys

with staff and legal team.

Coordinate with staff Architects, MEP & Fire consultants to establish efficient and

cost effective building and site utility design.

Work with consultants and project managers to successfully design and permit all

site related construction efforts.

Coordinate subdivision plats, parcel splits, lot consolidation, etc. as needed to

support the site development and permitting.

Participate in pre-con, site progress and any city meetings as needed.

Process shop drawings for review & approval internally, with consultants and

reviewing authorities.

Manage and monitor site development permit requirements for project close-out

including Engineering As-Builts and As-Built ALTA / NSPS surveys for project in a

timely manner.

Travel is expected to be minimal, but can be 1-4 times a month.

Competencies and Qualifications :

Strong Communication : in person, , , reports, memos, etc.

Strong Organization : many tasks for multiple jobs

Familiarity with and understanding of Real Estate Documents

• Specific experience and competence with :
• Online code database research
• Local jurisdiction website navigation for codes, apps, fees, etc.
• Autodesk AutoCAD & Civil 3D
• ArcGIS Mapping
• Drainage Software HydroCAD, WinTR-55, Bentley programs, Hydraflow

Candidates with a B.S. in Civil Engineering (PE is a plus) or Construction Engineering are preferred.

Require 7 -10 years in commercial or industrial construction design, document preparation, permitting, and construction coordination involving most or all of the responsibilities noted above.
