A Brief Overview

The Communications Supervisor is responsible for the planning, developing and implementation of internal and external communications to promote Stormont Vail Health.

The position will oversee public relations and be the primary contact with local, regional and national media outlets. The position will supervise the organization's social media and web sites as well as other communication tools for internal and external audiences.

The Communications Supervisor must have strong communication and writing skills, with solid ability in managing people, projects and ideas.

This position reports to the Manager, Marketing & Communications.

Education Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree Communications, journalism, marketing or business-related field. Required

Experience Qualifications

  • 3 years Experience in communications, marketing, media. Required
  • Health-related experience. Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media applications, web applications. (Preferred proficiency)
  • Proficiency in Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator). (Preferred proficiency)
  • Health-related experience. (Preferred proficiency)

What you will do

  • Develop, implement and oversee Public Relations and Communications strategies from planning and development to execution from traditional to digital communications, programs and events.
  • Connect with local, regional and national media outlets for story pitches and requests, and create media releases and press kits.

Track media mentions and earned media and recognitions.

  • Maintain Stormont Vail style manual (for writing and communications).
  • Develop, implement and oversee digital content and schedule for social media, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.

Oversee content of internal and external websites to maintain timely and accurate information.

  • Responsible for overseeing and monitoring communications analytics.
  • Supervise members of the Communications Team and work closely and collaboratively with all members of the Marketing & Communications Department, and as a peer support to the Marketing Supervisor.
  • Develop and oversee a speakers’ bureau.
  • Develop and oversee a 24-hour rotation for on-call coverage for patient condition inquiries from media with assistance of other Marketing & Communications team members.
  • Monitor current trends and concepts as it relates to health care communications.

Travel Requirements

10% Primarily day travel between Stormont Vail locations within Kansas
