Job Summary : The Psychiatric Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health care to patients within a psychiatric setting.

This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with psychiatric disorders, emotional difficulties, and other mental health issues.

The nurse works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at promoting mental wellness and recovery.

Key Responsibilities :

Patient Assessment and Care :

• Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations, risk assessments, and medical history reviews.
• Monitor and record patients' progress, symptoms, and responses to treatments.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the attending physician or psychiatrist.
• Provide care for patients experiencing acute mental health crises.

Treatment Planning and Implementation :

• Collaborate with the treatment team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
• Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions as appropriate.

Crisis Intervention :

• Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage agitated or aggressive behavior.
• Coordinate with emergency services when necessary.

Documentation and Reporting :

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
• Document patient interactions, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge plans

Qualifications :

Education / Licensure / Certification :

• Diploma, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) from an accredited nursing program. (required)
• Licensure within good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of MA (required)

Experience :

• 1-2 years of clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting (preferred).
