Job Description

Position Summary

Responsible for upkeep, cleaning, and maintaining facility related equipment, building, parking lots and property. Supporting all areas of the facilities, in production departments, office areas, bathrooms, and cafeterias.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the maintenance of property including but not limited to offices, production areas, public areas, and equipment through completion of preventive maintenance programs according to specifications
  • Completes daily Standard Work task lists and event reports
  • In this role you will be responsible for ensuring both the office area and production floor are clean and safe; helping other departments per business needs
  • Empties trash in production and in the office
  • Sweeping, mopping interior of the building, and general cleaning of the floor using brooms, mops, and a commercial floor sweeping machine
  • Maintains and disinfects restrooms which includes sweeping, mopping, cleaning, replenishing paper supplies and soap
  • Cleans windows, replaces air filters, etc
  • Orders, tracks and maintains supplies
  • Maintains tidy parking lots and exterior of the building, picks up refuse and empties outdoor waste bins
  • Shovels snow / apply salt as needed to compliment outside service
  • Individually lift and manipulate parts / equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Follows safety requirements, wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, aprons, gloves, and shoes
  • Keeps the factory clean, safe and organized
  • Assists with 5S projects and initiatives
  • Minor maintenance tasks such as light bulb changes and painting
  • Helps in other departments per business needs per your supervisor's direction
  • The work environment of this position is generally performed in an indoor environment (at times in confined spaces)
  • Job functions on and around mechanized equipment will present the need for alertness, accuracy, and safety awareness
  • Interfaces with appropriate staff / managers to implement maintenance needs; ensures timely response to requests
  • Assists in the maintenance of proper inventory levels
  • Assists in fire and safety inspections corrects any discrepancies; ensures property complies with all safety and sanitation policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Assists in maintaining waste disposal, including any hazardous waste such as acetone, mineral spirits, or solvents.

Work Environment

  • Most of the work time is spent in a warehouse environment where temperatures are heated and air conditioned, depending upon the season, and noise level can be moderate to high
  • Occasionally outside weather conditions, year round
  • Handling of small amounts of general and hazardous waste. Hazardous waste includes solvents, acetones, and mineral spirits. General waste may
  • include hydraulic oil, mixed water / cleaning solutions, and general cleaning agents such as soaps and detergents.
  • Handling of non-hazardous materials such as cutting oils, coolants, grease, water

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following :

  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Use of ladders and scaffolds
  • Working with parts of various sizes and weights
  • Repetitive shoulder / arm / hand motion
  • Move furniture, materials and equipment

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, job specific training and equivalent work experience preferred
  • Plumbing, carpentry, painting, and other generally accepted maintenance skills a plus
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards for cleaning and organizing
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiaam
  • Strong interpersonal skill
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Bilingual skills a plus
  • Ability to understand all safety requirements and precautions
  • Ability to learn proper methods for handling hazardous materials and wastes, with training
