Maintenance Technician
The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis is seeking an individual to join our team as a Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the Women's Business Center, grounds, and equipment.
Work may involve a variety of physical demands. This is a part time position.
Duties are described in major areas in order of importance.
- Ensures that agency facilities have adequate heating, lighting, and ventilation and that they are properly cleaned each workday.
- Cleans, sweeps, dust, mops, washes, vacuums, polishes, and waxes floors. Cleans windows, woodwork, furniture, equipment, and interior and exterior stairwells, walkways, and parking lots.
- Cleans facilities and keeps restrooms supplied with towels, soap, and other general restroom supplies.
- Collects and disposes of trash from buildings and grounds.
- Moves furniture and equipment.
- Determines material, equipment, and supplies to be used.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidates must have :
Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, materials, and equipment; principles of sanitation and safety in janitorial work;
proper use and care of mechanical cleaning equipment.
Ability to operate assigned equipment, including office computers; Ability to make minor repairs to buildings and equipment;
Ability to keep routine records; Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties which includes lifting a minimum of 40 pounds, walking, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Candidates must possess a valid State Driver's License.
The above knowledge and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience and some experience performing basic custodial and maintenance duties.
