Senior Director, Analyst - Security Services Emerging Technology and Trends (Remote: NA OR Europe)

About The Role

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations.

A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner's Research and Advisory sector, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional and global levels.

Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives.

They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner's value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

You are primarily responsible for leading, and advising Gartner clients by researching Emerging Technology and Trends (ETT) within cybersecurity markets.

You will be charged with creating and delivering both strategic and tactical advice and research content which guides Technology CEOs, Product and Innovation Leaders, Product Managers, and Marketing professionals on critical future security technologies through written research reports, presentations, teleconferences, inquiries, and briefings.

You will mentor and guide your research and elaborate on the evolution and impacts of those emerging technologies in the security market.

During a research project, you will work closely with adjacent covering analysts, case-based researchers, and service delivery associates across Gartner, to deliver a world-class experience for our technology provider membership subscriptions.

This ETT Senior Director role will specifically cover and requires a clear understanding and relevant experience for the following security services market categories :

Security Consulting - providing expert advice, strategy, auditing, compliance and policy development

Security Professional Services - providing technical testing, assessments, implementation, solution integration and onboarding

Managed Security Services - the outsourcing of specific capabilities or processes to a third-party service provider. The goal is to offload certain responsibilities to experts that can manage and optimize those functions more efficiently.

Managed services are usually designed to be longer-term (specifically, nine to 12 months or longer), ongoing, "steady state" services, and they typically cover a broader scope of responsibilities when compared to consulting or professional services.

Please note this is an individual contributor role NOT a leadership role with direct reports.

What You Will Do

The following items are all focused on the emerging technologies and trends specific to the security services market :

Develop thought-leading advice on the emergence, adoption and disruptions that emerging technologies bring to bear on the security services market across the world.

Serve members, in conjunction with the Programs team, by helping the team craft must-attend meetings with compelling content and speakers.

Aid the Programs team as necessary to serve and retain clients.

Grow the ETT team's network of thought leaders (academics, investors, etc.), startups, and vendors that the research team can draw on for interviews, case-based research and emergent disruptive security technologies and trends.

Provide tailored inquiries and briefings for Gartner clients on Emerging Technologies in the Security Markets.

Work with Gartner clients and their teams while reflecting the research in meeting conversations, and as a speaker, either face-to-face, or via videoconference.

Ensure integrity of research & analysis of the team.

What You Will Need

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Security Services field; Graduate degree preferred

A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the cybersecurity and specifically security services market

Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions and 1 : 1 client engagement

The ability to produce high-quality written deliverables within scheduled deadlines

Comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements

Strong business and financial acumen

Ability to synthesize data quickly and accurately from multiple sources

A track record of distilling complex concepts into concise advice, and successful at developing and defending research positions

Strong data visualization skills, preferably utilizing tools like PowerBI and Excel, or similar tools

Experience with (or able to quickly learn) with tools and data sources such as Pitchbook, CapIQ, TechCrunch, Bloomberg, and other forecast / financial data

Demonstrate superior analytical skills while applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions

Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team

Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables

Adept at analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks to client challenges

Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders

Subject Matter Expertise : Must be familiar with the security services market as well as typical service offerings, best practices, commonly used technologies, and vendors for client engagements and for research and development.

Demonstrate willingness and foundation ability to mentor and coach others

Flexible thinker adept at change and experienced navigating highly matrixed environments

Ability to conduct occasional travel, regionally and globally

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 150,000 USD - 190,000 USD.

Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location.

In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
